A few maple trees at Howell Farm are still producing good sap, but the syrup season is "98% over," says Jim.
According to Farmer Jim, a snap of colder weather this week helped keep the maple sap running a little longer, but not much. He estimates that the farm has collected another 10 gallons or so of sap, which translates into about a quarter gallon of finished maple syrup.
